BNP and Jatiya Oikyafront are playing a blame game to make the upcoming general election controversial, Bangladesher Samyabadi Dal General Secretary Dilip Barua said it Tuesday.
“We believe that the election will be free and fair. But they (BNP and Oikyafront) can say it is controversial,” Barua told reporters after a meeting with the election commissioners on the day.
A delegation of the 14-party alliance led by him went to the Nirbachan Bhaban in Dhaka to have talks with the election commissioners in the afternoon.
“Through playing a blame game, they (BNP and Oikyafront) are trying to make the Election Commission a opposition party,” he said. He accused the BNP of using Jamaat-e-Islami activists to create chaos before the election to make the polls controversial nationally and internationally.
“Foiling the election, they (BNP and Oikyafront) want to unleash political instability in the country. So, we have urged the Election Commission to remain alert agains such activities,” he said.
The alliance submitted a letter in this regard to the EC.
