Staff Reporter :
Opposition political alliance Jatiya Oikyafront has decided that one of its delegation will visit BNP’s imprisoned Chairperson Khaleda Zia at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).
The delegation will meet Khaleda Zia led by Oikyafront Convener Dr Kamal Hossain.
The alliance is going to send an application to the Home Minister very soon seeking permission for the meeting with the BNP chief.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Oikyafront’s steering committee at Dr Kamal Hossain’s Motijheel chamber.
Talking to reporters after the meeting, Dr Kamal said, there is a possibility that Oikyafront will organise a rally at Suhrawardy Uddyan on October 22. We will urge the Home Ministry office for permission, but still we did not get it.
Dr Kamal said, we are talking for unity, not for violation. So, why they are not giving permission, I don’t know.
Dr Kamal also thanked Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon, MP, for what he said confirming that people could not cast their votes in the December 30 national election.
“I’m happy that he (Menon) did it, even if it’s late. I’ve long been saying it (people could not cast their votes),” he said.
On Saturday, Menon at a programme in Barishal said people could not cast their votes in the December 30 polls and subsequent local body ones.
JSD president ASM Abdur Rob said, “Three-time ex-PM Khaleda Zia has been in jail. The nation is worried (over her health condition) as any bad thing can take place anytime. Her one hand has got paralysed and she’s unable to eat.”
