Staff Reporter :
Leaders of the Steering Committee of Jatiya Oikya Front have welcomed the ruling Awami League’s decision to hold talks with their opposition alliance over the next national election.
The move came in response to Dr Kamal Hossain’s letter written to Sheikh Hasina, President of Bangladesh Awami League, on Sunday night. There, Dr Kamal sought dialogue over the next parliamentary polls.
“We welcome the decision that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has decided to sit in dialogue with us,” Barrister Moudud Ahmed, a BNP Steering Committee member, told reporters on Monday.
He came up with the remark after a meeting of the Steering Committee of the Jatiya Oikya Front held at his Motijheel office in the evening.
“We’re yet to officially informed about when and where the dialogue will be held. We will inform the press if the meeting schedule is finalized,” said Moudud.
In response to a question, another leader of the Jatiya Oikya Front ASM Abdur Rab, said, “We are ready to sit for the dialogue anytime and anywhere. If we get the Prime Minister’s call tomorrow, we will certainly respond to her call. We can’t dishonour the President and the Prime Minister anymore.”
Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Dr Jafarullah Chowdhury, Advocate Subrata Chowdhury, former DUCSU leader Sultan Mohammad Mansur Ahmed, Abdul Malek Ratan and Mostafa Mansur Montu, were present at the meeting, among others.
