Secretary General of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen arrives in the city today night on a four-day working tour. He will lead a five-member delegation during his first visit to Bangladesh since assuming charge as the secretary general of OIC, a foreign ministry statement said here on Sunday.
During his stay in Dhaka, the OIC secretary general is scheduled to
call on President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday.
He will also hold a meeting with Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, who will host a dinner in honour of him in the evening. Al-Othaimeen is also expected to visit the Kutupalong Camp and surroundings in Cox’s Bazar and the Rakhine Muslims there on Friday. This will give him an opportunity of briefing from
the local administration and representatives of international humanitarian organizations working there
and seeking suggestions of Bangladesh leadership on various OIC issues. As Bangladesh is going to host the 45th OIC Council of Foreign Ministers next year, this visit will allow discussion on Bangladesh-OIC Secretariat cooperation apart from various other areas of bilateral cooperation, the statement added.
