OIC FMs condemn attacks on KSA Embassy in Iran

UNB, Dhaka :A meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah on Thursday rejected and condemned Iran’s inflammatory statements on the execution of judicial decisions against the perpetrators of terrorist crimes in Saudi Arabia.The Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC held the Extraordinary Meeting at the Headquarters of the OIC General Secretariat under the chairmanship of Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, Chairman of the current session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers.Bangladesh Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali was also present at the meeting.”Those statements are blatant interference in internal affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and a contravention of the United Nations’ Charter, the OIC Charter, and of all international covenants,” OIC said in its final communique of the Council’s extraordinary meeting.Condemning the assault on the premises of the Saudi Embassy in Tehran and its Consulate General in Mashhad, the council said this is a flagrant violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961, the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 1963, and international law which guarantees the inviolability of diplomatic missions.The council also denounces Iran’s interference in internal affairs of the States of the region and other Member States, including Bahrain, Yemen and Syria and Somalia, and its continued support for terrorism.The meeting expressed its full support for and backing of the efforts of Saudi Arabia and all Member States to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, regardless of its source and objectives.
