SM Mizanur Rahman :Alamgir Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Jalalabad Police Station has been closed while Sub-Inspectors Zakir Hossain and Aminul Islam have been suspended on Friday due to their negligence to arrest the killers and helped them to make a good escape in connection with Sylhet Sensational Samiul Alam Rajon murder case.According to the investigation, their names have been mentioned in the Probe report that has been submitted to the Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) Commissioner Kamrul Ahsan on Thursday night.Earlier, a three-member SMP Probe committee has been formed to investigate the allegations of negligence of duty by police during the killing incident.The probe report says the law enforcers’ negligence to arrest the killers and political influence in letting them a good escape were found in the investigation formed in connection with the brutal murder of teenager Samiul Alam Rajon.”Police couldn’t arrest the killers of Rajon because of their negligence. Besides, there was a political influence to protect killers,” an official of the Probe committee of SMP told The New Nation on Friday. According to probe report, police also misbehaved with Rajon’s father when he went to file a case with the Jalalabad Police Station after the murder of his son.The official, preferring not be named, said the incident of misbehaviour with Rajon’s father has also been mentioned in the report.”After the investigation we have already submitted the 416-page report into Rajon’s murder to SMP Commissioner Kamrul Ahsan on Thursday night. Now he (Kamrul) is authorised to tell about the report in public,” SM Rokon Uddin, SMP Additional Commissioner and Head of the probe body, told The New Nation on Friday.On July 13 Rajon, the 13-year-old boy who was brutally tortured at Sundar Ali Market in Kumargaon area of the city died of brain haemorrhage, according to autopsy report. Rajon’s body bore 68 injury marks. Days into the killing, the SMP formed the three-member probe committee to investigate the incident.On Thursday, Law Minister Anisul Huq said the killers of Rajon will be tried in a Speedy Trial Tribunal.Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Friday said the police officials whose names have been mentioned in the probe report will be not spared. “Stern action will be taken against the police officials whose names have been mentioned in the probe report. If needed, we will interfere into the matter,” he told reporters while replying to a query of reporters at Sylhet Osmani International Airport before his departure for Dhaka yesterday.The Home Minister went to Sylhet on Wednesday to visit the residence of Rajon’s father to express his sympathy to the bereaved family members.Twelve people, including the four accused in the murder case, have been held.Jalalabad police filed the case, accusing Muhith Alam, his brother Kamrul Islam, their accomplice Ali Haider and security guard Moyna Mia.Earlier on Thursday, a court in Sylhet placed another accused, Tajuddin Ahmed Badal, on a 5-day remand in connection with the gruesome murder.Earlier on Wednesday night, locals handed over Badal to police with the help of his father.Ali Haider, another accused of the same case, made his confessional statement under Clause 164 before the court on Thursday.Haider also confessed to his involvement in the crime, said Suranjit Talukdar, investigation officer of the case. He is the seventh to have given confessional statement under Section 164.Locals caught and handed over Haider to police when he was trying to take away the body of Rajon after torturing him to death.Meanwhile in capital Dhaka, Shishu Rajoner Shokahoto Bondhu Shomaj has demanded exemplary punishment of Rajon’s killers.They staged demonstration and protest rally in front of the National Press Club in city.
