Observation of mourning day ignored in Sailkupa

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday declared two-day countrywide mourning programme to show respect to persons who were killed in a Gulshan restaurant in Dhaka on Friday night started from Sunday but a section of office heads of government and educational institutions have ignored the order willfully. They did not hoist any national flag at their office or institutions on the first day.
When this correspondent visited a number of offices and institutions in Sailkupa upazila headquarters of Jhenaidah on Sunday witnessed most of the institutions ignored the government order.
The offices are Sailkupa Pilot Girls’ High School, Upazila Accounts Officer, Upazila Social Welfare Officer, Upazila Fisheries Officer, upazila cooperative officer, upazila Ansar and VDP officer, Sailkupa Govt Degree College, Ekti Bari Ekti Khamar, Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB), Upazila Secondary Education Officer or training centre, upazila primary education officer, Sailkupa Fazel Madrashah, Upazila agriculture officer, Upazila livestock officer and sub-divisional officer of Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB).
Comments on the matter were not available as the offices were enjoying nine days government holiday following Eid-ul -Fitr.
Didarul Alam, UNO, Sailkupa when contacted said, non-hoisting of national flag was a simple violation of government order. “I will look into the matter” UNO said.
The deputy Commissioner of Jhenaidah Mahbub Alam Talukder when contacted said, the ignorance to government order could not be accepted. Deputy Commissioner assured of taking stern action against those who are responsible for not hoisting of national flag as per government instruction.
