Abdul Kader, a valiant freedom fighter and an elderly politician, died of a long-term illness after facing a stroke at his residence at Daulatpur in Manikganj on Sunday evening. He was 70. Kader, who had trained in India and fought for the country’s Liberation War, was the three-time elected Daulatpur Upazila Chairman and Commander of Daulatpur Upazila Freedom Fighters from 1985 to 2017. He left behind two sons and three daughters and a host of co-fighters and well-wishers to mourn his death.
Later, he was laid to eternal rest at Daulatpur graveyard on Monday with state honour following a Namaz-e-janaza.
Thousands of people from all walks of life including freedom fighters, government officials joined the Janaza.
