AKM Jahurul Haque, senior journalist and Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) correspondent of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha passed away at his Chattogram residence on Sunday night. He was 76. He breathed his last at about 8.30 pm at his residence. He suffered a stroke eight years ago and almost remained bedridden until his death.
Regarded as an expert on hill tracts affairs, Haque was entrusted with the task of coordinating the coverage of three hill districts of Rangamati, Khagrachhari and Bandarban for BSS, the national news agency, for a long time.

Standing Committee Member on the Ministry of Food Dipankar Talukder, issued a statement condoling Haque’s death and prayed for the eternal peace of the
departed soul.
He left behind his wife, three daughters, a son, several grand children and a number of admirers to mourn his death.
