Former President of Rangpur’s Pirganj upazila Awami League (AL) Rawshan Ara Waheed Rani passed away early on Monday at the age of 72.
Rawshan Ara, also Pirganj upazila AL’s advisory council member, breathed her last at her residence in Laldighee Fatehpur village in Pirganj upazila at 4.30 am, family sources said.
She was wife of late Abdul Waheed Kanu Miah, elder brother of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s husband and late nuclear scientist Dr. MA Wazed Miah.
Rawshan Ara left two daughters, two sons, grandchildren and a number of relatives and admirers to mourn her death.
Her first Namaz-e-Janaza was held at Pirganj Government High School ground at 3 pm on Monday.
Her second Namaz-e-Janaza was held at Joy Sadan ground on their house premises in Laldighee Fatehpur village after Asr prayers.
Later she was buried at family graveyard in the village.
Rangpur district AL President Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed and its General Secretary Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju have expressed deep sorrow at the death of Rawshan Ara.
In a joint condolence message, they prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
