Bagerhat Correspondent :
Mujibor Raman Shaplaful, poet, easy writer, columnist, a member of Bagerhat Press Club, its former General Secretary, former Bagerhat district based correspondent of the daily Sangbad and member of Bagerhat District Bar Association breathed his last in Bagerhat Sadar Hospital on Monday at noon due to Cardiac arrest. He was 62.
He left behind wife, one son, one daughter and a host of relatives, friends and admirers to mourn his death. He was kind, pious, generous, well behaved and amiable in nature all through his life.
He started his journalism carrier as Bagerhat district based correspondent of a Bengali daily ‘Probasi’ published from Khulna after the emergence of Bangladesh. Then he joined the daily Sangbad and served it as its Bagerhat district correspondent for long 1.5 decades. He also served as a news editor of (now defunct) Daily Dut published from Bagerhat. In the daily he use to write columns styled as ‘Darbar-e-Chena Mukh’, ‘Ator Alir Khola Chiti’ and ‘Chimti Khar Daftar Theke Balchi’. He used to compose poetry from his boyhood. Charmed with his poetry Palli Kabi Jasim Uddin adorned him with the title “Shaplaful.” His namaj-e-janja was held in the local Ansar ground. It was attended different section people including journalist, lawyers and elites of the district town. He was buried in Bagerhat Pourashava grave yard on the same day afternoon.
