Retired army officer, Adviser of the UNICEF Bangladesh, renowned social worker and freedom fighter, Alhaj Harunur Rashid Chowdhury breathed his last on July 27, 2014 due to cardiac failure at Lab Aid Cardiac Centre in Dhaka at the age of 86. He left behind two sons, one daughter, and many well-wishers and a host of relatives to mourn his death. His elder son Forkan Haider Chowdhury is the proprietor of Holland-based multinational company named Unidex Holland, younger son Sis Haider Chowdhury is the Additional CGA of Bangladesh Govt. and his son-in-law is the Counsellor of Bangladesh Embassy in Riyad. He was buried at Azimpur graveyard, Dhaka.
