New Zealand scored 211 for the loss of five wickets in 46.1 overs against India before the rain interrupted the match of the ICC World Cup Cricket semi-final at Old Trafford in Manchester on Tuesday.
New Zealand had an awful start as opener Martin Guptill (1) was caught at the second slip by Virat Kohli off Jasprit Bumrah when the Kiwis’ total was just one. Henry Nicholls and Kane Williamson mended the damage contributing together 68 runs for the second wicket partnership before Henry (28) was bowled out by Ravindra Jadeja when New Zealand’s score was 69 for the loss of two wickets.
Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor built another notable partnership. They added together 65 runs in the third wicket stand before Williamson was caught at the point by Ravindra Jadeja off Yuzvendra Chahal when New Zealand’s total was 134 for the loss of three wickets.
Williamson hit a captain’s knock of 67. His 95-ball innings saw six fours. It was Williamson’s 39th ODI half-century.
Third-down James Neesham ( 12) was caught by Dinesh Kartik off Hardik Pandya when New Zealand’s score was 164 for the loss of four wickets.
After Neesham’s dismissal, Ross Taylor and Colin de Grandhomme added together 38 runs for the fifth wicket partnership before Grandhomme (16) was caught behind by MS Dhoni off Bhuvneshwar Kumar when New Zealand’s total was 200 for the loss of five wickets.
Ross Taylor remained unbeaten with 67. His 85-ball knock had three fours and a sixer.It was Taylor’s 50th ODI half-century.
Tom Latham remained unbeaten with three.
Bumrah, Kumar, Jadeja, Pandya and Chahal took one wicket each for 25, 30, 34, 55 and 63 runs respectively.
