ICC T20 World Cup: 1st Semi-final: NZ in final beating England by 5 wickets

New Zealand reached the final of the ICC T20 World Cup after beating New Zealand by five wickets in the first semi-final at Sheikh Jayed Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday.
Batting first, England piled up a massive166 for the loss of four wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
In reply, New Zealand overhauled the winning target making 167 for the loss of five wickets when they had just six balls to spare.
Daryl Mitchell played the key role for the Kiwis victory. He remained unbeaten with 72. He struck four sixes and four fours in his 47-ball innings. Mitchell was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Earlier, England made a good start with two openers Jos Buttler and Jonny Bairstow put on together before Bairstow (13) was caught at the mid-off by Kane Williamson off Adam Milne when England’s score was 37.
After Bairstow’s departure, opener Jos Buttler was trapped leg before wicket by Ish Sodhi when England’s total was 53 for the loss of two wickets.
Buttler made 29 from 24 balls featuring four fours.
After Buttler’s dismissal, Dawid Malan and Moeen Ali repaired the damage contributing together 63 runs for the third wicket partnership before Malan was caught behind by wicketkeeper Devon Conway off Tim Southee when England’s score was 116 for the loss of three wickets.
Malan hit a polished 41. His 30-ball innings was laced with four fours and a sixer.
After Malan’s departure, Moeen Ali and Liam Livingstone built another worthy partnership. They scored together 40 runs in the fourth wicket stand before Liam (17) was caught by Mitchell Santner off James Neesham when England’s total was 156 for the loss of four wickets.
Moeen Ali remained unbeaten with 51 runs. He struck two sixes and three fours in his 37-ball knock.
Eoin Morgan remained unbeaten with four runs.
James Neesham, Tim Southee, Adam Milne and Ish Sodhi took one wicket each for 18, 24, 31 and 32 runs respectively.
