Skipper Suzie Bates’ unbeaten 94 runs helped New Zealand Women’s team beat Pakistan Women’s team by 59 runs in a Group-A match of the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 at Sylhet Stadium on Thursday.
Replying to New Zealand’s 167 runs, Pakistan scored 108 runs for 7 in 20 overs.
For Pakistan, opener Javeria Khan scored 35 runs off 34 balls with four boundaries while skipper Sana Mir also made 35 runs off 37 balls featuring three fours and Nain Abidi added 11 runs.
Felicity Leydon-Davis claimed two wickets for 15 runs in her four overs spell while Hayley Jensen and Morna Nielsen took one wicket each conceding 16, and 17 runs respectively.
Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, New Zealand piled up the score in 20 overs for 3 wickets.
