Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed on Saturday paid glowing tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at his mazar in Tungipara of Gopalganj district marking the National Mourning Day and 44th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation.
The minister also joined a munajat at the mazar and prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu, his family members and other martyrs of August 15, 1975 massacre.
After paying tribute, the minister told journalists that the incumbent government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is working to improve living standard of the poor, helpless and distressed people.
