Nuruzzaman for building society for differently-abled persons

Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed on Friday called for building a suitable and friendly society for differently-abled persons in the country.
“Various programmes for differently-abled persons are being implemented through the Ministry of Social Welfare to turn them into assets. We should build a disability-friendly society for them,” he said.
 The minister was addressing virtually a discussion held at the National Disabled Development Foundation in city’s Mirpur area as chief guest on the occasion of the World White Cane Safety Day-2021.
 He also distributed awards and grants and smart white canes to the visually impaired meritorious students there.
The minister directed the officials and employees of all levels under the Ministry of Social Welfare to implement the programmes taken for the differently-abled persons by the Ministry of Social Welfare as per the desire of the Prime Minister.
 With Secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare Mahfuza Akhter in the chair, the discussion was addressed, among others, by Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Social Welfare Rashed Khan Menon, MP, Department of Social Service (DSS) Director General Sheikh Rafiqul Islam and Jatiyo Protibondhi Unnayan Foundation Managing Director Md Anisuzzaman.
