Nurul off to Singapore

Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam BSc left here for Singapore on Wednesday morning to generate more employments for Bangladeshi people.
He is scheduled to sit at a bilateral meeting with the Singaporean manpower minister on February 25 on new employments and different issues related to Bangladeshi labourers.
Nurul, who is leading a six-member delegation, would discuss more recruitment of Bangladeshi manpower for construction and ship industries as well as service sector in Singapore. He would also talk of the visa continuation to Bangladeshi labourers.
In the last two decades, a total of 1.60 lakh skilled labourers have been
employed at construction and ship industries as well as service sector in
Singapore.
In 2015, nearly 55,523 labourers have been exported to Singapore and they
have remitted $ 407.43 million to Bangladesh.
The minister is likely to return home on February 28.
