Nurturing literature to resist militancy stressed

Literary personalities and academicians at a conference here have laid emphasis on inspiring the youth community in nurturing literature, art and culture to become enlightened citizens, remain on the right track and resist militancy.
They expressed the opinion in the concluding ceremony of the Divisional Literary Conference-2016 held at the auditorium of Rangpur Museum (Tazhat Jaminder Bari) in the city on Thursday.
Rangpur Bibhagiyo Lekhok Parisahd (BLP) organised the daylong conference in observance of the sixth founding anniversary of the reputed literary organisation.
More than 400 literary personalities, including writers, poets, poem lovers and academicians, literary and socio-cultural personalities from Rangpur division participated in the conference.
Mayor of Rangpur Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu inaugurated the conference by cutting cake in the morning session as the chief guest with immediate past President of the organisation Kazi Md Junnon in the chair.
Renowned poet Asad Chowdhury attended the concluding ceremony as the chief guest with newly elected President of Rangpur BLP educationist Dr AIM Musa in the chair.
Noted writers and academicians Professor Muhammad Alim Uddin, Professor Dil Ara Banu Khanom, Professor Shah Alam, Professor Dr Sharifa Salowa Dina, Professor Atahar Ali Khan, Professor Dr Mahfuzar Rahman Akand and Dr Nasima Akhter addressed, among others.
The speakers called upon the young writers for more studies and added that there was no alternative to studies in becoming good writers to contribute to the nation.
Poet Asad Chowdhury suggested the writers to inspire the youths and young generations in nurturing literature for building an enlightened society free from militancy and terrorism.
