Nurturing ‘Bhaoyaiya’ song to entertain people underscored

Cultural personalities at a ‘Bhaoyaiya Affairs Workshop’ called for flourishing, preserving and nurturing of heart-throbbing popular ‘Bhaoyaiya’ songs to entertain common people.
‘Bhaoyaiya Angon’ organised the workshop recently at its office on the ‘Bhaoyaiya Bhaban’ premises in New Engineer Para area in Rangpur.
The organisation has been working for collecting and preserving ‘Bhaoyaiya’ songs and conducting research and educational activities to further flourishing these traditional songs as healthier sources of entertainment.
Founder of ‘Bhaoyaiya Angon’ and its Executive Director, music producer of Bangladesh Betar, ‘Bhaoyaiya’ researcher and composer AKM Mostafizur Rahman conducted different sessions of the workshop.
President of Rangpur divisional unit of ‘Bhaoyaiya Angon’ Engineer Khondker Saidur Rahman, its Secretary Ranjet Kumar Sarker, ‘Bhaoyaiya’ artist ASM Habibur Rahman and Patron of ‘Bhaoyaiya Angon’ Abdul Jalil addressed the inaugural function.
The speakers said traditional ‘Bhaoyaiya’ songs with its heart-throbbing melody have largely contributed to developing civilisation, culture and lifestyle on the Brahmaputra basin over the centuries.
Engineer Khondker Saidur Rahman said ‘Bhaoyaiya’ songs still attract people of all ages and stressed for saving the rich Bengali cultural heritage from aggression of foreign satellite cultures to revive lost social values and humanism on this soil.
Abdul Jalil put emphasis on conducting more research and proper preservation to further flourish ‘Bhaoyaiya’ songs those still have been playing a vital role in entertaining millions of common people of Bangladesh and neighbouring countries.
Later, AKM Mostafizur Rahman distributed certificates among fifty ‘Bhaoyaiya’ artists and students, who participated in the day-long workshop from all over Rangpur division.
At the end, ‘Bhaoyaiya’ artists rendered popular ‘Bhaoyaiya’ songs in the evening.
