Lauding the roles played by nurses in providing health services, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Kamrul Hasan Khan on Monday urged them to be more caring towards the patients.
“Contribution of nurses in curing patients is not less than the physicians, rather in many cases their role is more important. Simple gestures, like helping them to take medicines, talking to them with smile, wanting to know their wellbeing, can make the patients feel much better. Nurses should remember the fact that they are the most near ones of the patients,” Professor Khan said.
He came with the observations while inaugurating a training workshop “Medical Ethics for Nursing Profession for Patient Care at BSMMU” for the nurses.
Presided over by Pro-VC (research and development) Professor Dr Md Shahidullah Sikder, the workshop was addressed by Pro-VC (education)Professor Dr Md Ruhul Amin Miah and university treasurer Professor Dr Md Zulfikar Rahman Khan, aamong others.
