Nursery business has changed the lot of many besides employing thousands of people of Rangpur district. The growth of nursery in the private sector has brought prosperity to the both urban and rural people in the region. This expanding private sector business has now become
lucrative. Nurseries of different sizes have grown spreading over the entire district, sources said. According to sources, there are around 500 nurseries in eight upazilas of Rangpur district.
Md. Abdul Kader (62), owner of a nursery at Rangpur Sadar Upazila said he has been running nursery business for 20 years. He earns Tk, 1,00000 annually which is enough to maintain his family.
He hopes to earn double of his present income from his nursery. He also urged the government to provide necessary support so that they can get easy Bank loan and other facilities.
At present there are different kinds of fruits, herbal, flower and wood plants in his nursery and he is now trying to expand his business, he further said.
Another nursery owner Abul kashem (50) at Taraganj upazila of Rangpur district said this business has brought massive change in his life and he has conquered poverty through this business.
As the business is profitable many people of the region are getting enthusiastic about it. And this business is gaining popularity in the district day by day, he added.
