A nurse of Chattogram Maa o Shishu Hospital allegedly committed suicide in her house in the port city’s EPZ area on Monday night.
On information, police recovered the body of Arifa Akhtar Shimu, 25, wife of Md Shakhawat, and a syringe from her bed.
A note was also found beside the body which only mentioned her grief for being unable to be a good homemaker, said police. Victim’s maternal uncle Moktar Ali alleged that Shakhawat, quality controller at an apparel factory in CEPZ, used to pressurise Shimu for dowry.
Denying the allegation, Shakhawat, said he was at work on that night when his landlord called him to inform about the death.
Police sent the body to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
