bdnews24.com :The government has removed controversial councillor Nur Hossain from the Narayanganj City Corporation.Nur Hossain, now in Kolkata after his arrest there, is the prime accused in the murder of seven persons, including a rival councillor and a lawyer.Hossain has been found guilty in a case under the Wildlife Act.A circular by the Local Government Division said that he was stripped off from his Councillor position and the same has been declared vacant.The circular signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Jasim Uddin Haider also requested the Election Commission to take measures to fill up the vacant position within 90 days as per existing regulations.On Sept 30 last year, a Naraynganj court sentenced Hossain to one year in prison. Police raided Hossain’s Narayanganj residence on May 15 last year and found around 41 types of animals, including birds.Hossain, a leader of the ruling Awami League’s Siddhirganj unit, is now in a Kolkata jail. The government has said that efforts to bring him back were afoot so that he could face trial for the multiple murders.Seven men, including Narayanganj Councillor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarkar, were abducted on Apr 27 last year.Their bloated bodies were found floating in the Shitalakkhya River several days later.
