The Detective Branch of the police has held another of Nur Hossain’s associates sometime in the early hours of Friday from Faridpur in connection with the multiple murders in Narayanganj. Police officials said, “Detained Jamanur Rahman aka Charsil Zaman looked after Nur Hossain’s drug trade.” Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Faridpur Police (Detective Branch) Sunil Karmakar said, “He has been held from the remote char (river island) area of North Channel Union under Sadar Upazila.” “He is the son of late Mashiur Rahman, of Bhati Lakshmipur area in Faridpur. He was hiding there in the house of his second wife Lipi Akhter since May 30, when Police found the bodies of the seven people abducted in Narayanganj.” Police had earlier, on May 12, detained Nur hossain’s close aide Rafiqul Islam Ratan from Narayanganj’s Shimrail. “Truck workers’ leader Nur Hossain and Ratan used to run an extortion racket in Kanchpur-Shimrail area,” the OC said. Police has so far arrested several of Nur Hossain’s aides: Mashiur Rahman, Mahibullah, Kamal Hossain, Shipon, Ripon, Harun, ‘Killer’ Jashim, Harunur rashid and Joha among others. Nur Hossain, the main accused in the sensational Narayanganj multiple-murders, including that of former city councillor Nazrul Islam and lawyer Chandan Sarkar, is on the run.
