City Mayor Alhaj AJM Nasir Uddin said late Nur Ahmed Chairman first ever introduced the free primary education in this subcontinent .
With the continuation of his theme , primary education was made free of cost, now Chittagong City Corporation is providing free primary education facilities to about 70 thousand students in every year.
He said there isno alternative of brightening the society except the enriched people.
With this view of the former Chittagong Municipal(Now city corporation) chairman , city corporation is continuing the system of free primary education giving subsidy of about Tk.35 crores annually. He called the students and youths to build their life with the teachings of Nur Ahmed Chairman. Mentionable that late Nur Ahmed Chairman was the chairman Chittagong Municipality for continuous period of 32 years .
City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin disclosed it while addressing the 51th death anniversary programs arranged at city corporation auditorium on Thrusday as chief guest.
Chief Executive Officer of CCC Kazi Shafiul Alam presided over the reminiscence program of Nur Ahmed chairman. Vice Chancellor of Chittagong University Dr. Iftikhar Uddiin Chowdury was the chief discussant on the occasion. Among others, columnist Shakawat Hossain Majnu, grand son of Nur Ahmed Prof. Dr.Selim Jahangir, councilor Hasan Murad Biplab, panel Mayor Hasan Mahmud Hasnil, CCC secretary Rashid Ahmed private secretary of city Mayor Manzurul Islam, participated the anniversary program as discussants.
Columnist Md.Abu Taleb Belal presented keynote paper in the discussions.
