National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman M Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan Saturday said NBR has taken an initiative to increase the number of tax offices across the country aimed at bringing more people under tax net.
“We will increase the number of tax offices. We hope that many tax offices will be visible across the country within the next six months or one year,” he told a dialogue on revenue at Shilpakala Academy.
Tax zone-1 Commissioner Ferdousi Begum presided over the function while NBR Member (Tax Administration) Kalipada Haldar, Managing Director of Sonali Bank Limited M Obaidullah Al Masud and Country Manager of Qatar Airaways Joy Prakash Nayar, among others, were present.
Mosharraf Hossain said the government is providing special attention to raising tax net for boosting the collection of revenue. “So, we are considering reducing tax rate for increasing the number of taxpayers,” he added.
