Directorate General of Health Services expressed unhappiness at the rising deaths of the dengue patients despite efforts to contain the disease.
“It is really a sorrowful matter that 26 people died out of 6,650 dengue patients in the country,” Dr. Nazmul Islam, spokesman of the DGHS said during a regular health bulletin on Wednesday.
He said, “The number of 6,650 infections from dengue is not terrible comparing with the past records, but the continued deaths should be taken seriously.”
Meanwhile, after the DGHS’s news bulletin, the control room of the DGHS informed media that four more dengue patients died on Wednesday.
The total number of death is 30 so far in the year.
Besides, 306 more dengue patients were hospitalized on Tuesday taking the total number of infections to 6,956 in the year.
Dr. Nazmul Islam said in the bulletin, “The nation witnessed how hard the dengue situation hit us in 2019. We have to prevent ourselves from such a situation in this year.”
The doctor said, the city corporations are careful about their anti-mosquito drives to make people careful.
The city corporation, local government and other related department are working closely to contain the dengue outbreak, he added.
“If all of these agencies gear up their activities, the situation could be arrested soon,” he said.
He suggested all to be careful about the matter. “If someone suffers from fever they should immediately undergo dengue test alongside Covid-19 one. This test is free in the government hospitals of the country,” he said.
