A trust fund titled ‘Nujhat Jahangir Trust Fund’ has been set up at Dhaka University (DU).
Husband of late Nujhat Jahangir and former professor of the Department of Political Science of DU Dr Borhanuddin Khan Jahangir handed over a cheque for Tk. 5 lac to DU Treasurer Prof Dr Md. Kamal Uddin on Monday at the DU Vice-Chancellor’s office to set up this fund, says a press release.
Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed, Chairman of the Department of Political Science Prof Dr Nurul Amin Bepari, Donor’s son Prof Dr Nadim Jahangir, younger sister Nilufar Begum and Acting Registrar Syed Rezaur Rahman were present on the occasion.
Out of the income of this donation, every year three students securing the highest CGPAs in BSS Honours Examination from the Department of Sociology, Department of Anthropology and Department of Economics of DU will be awarded scholarship.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Arefin Siddique thanked the donor for setting up this Trust Fund at Dhaka University and hoped that students of the university would be benefited and encouraged from this donation.
