The Rooppur Nuclear Power Project under construction at Ishwardi elebrated ‘Nuclear Day-2021’. Science and Technology Minister Yafes Osman inaugurated the day-long event at Rooppur in Ishwardi on Tuesday morning.
After the inauguration, a colorful rally was held at Project Loka. At the end of the rally a video meeting and discussion meeting was held on the activities of the project. Speaking as the chief guest at the discussion, Minister Yafes Osman said that , those working on the Rooppur project are the new generation of freedom fighters. It is because of the bravery of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the worthy daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu that Bangladesh has entered the nuclear world today. That is why the respect of Bangladesh has been able to reach a unique height in the world now.
Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Prof. Dr. Sanowar Hossain presided over the ceremony. Shaukat Akbar, Project Director gave the welcome speech. Among others, Ali Hassan, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology; Brigadier General Yusuf, Coordinator, Nuclear Safety and Security Cell; Alexei Dairy, Project Director of the Russian part of the Rooppur Project, Alok Chakraborty, Head of the Finance Department of the Project, Additional Superintendent of Police Firoz Kabir, UNO Imrul Kayes and scientists and officials from the ministry, projects and contractors were present.
