On the 42nd anniversary of the tragic assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) organized a discussion and dua mahfil at its Banani campus recently.
Chairman of Northern University Bangladesh Trust Prof Dr AYM Abdullah was present as chief guest at the program chaired by Prof Dr Anwar Hossain, Vice-Chancellor of NUB.
Pro-VC of NUB Prof Dr Anwarul Karim read out an insightful commentary in his speech as Special Guest and said that “the events of this day cause the nation a shame that all the perfumes of Arabia cannot wipe out.”
Md. Rashidul Islam, Registrar of NUB said in his speech that the untimely demise of Bangabandhu caused a leadership void to be felt forever. Sheikh Monjur Morshed, President of Northern University Alumni Association highlighted Bangabandhu’s towering contributions to our national identity and emancipation.
The chief guest said, “Bangabandhu was a true hero, a uniquely talented and gifted leader, blessed with immense charisma, organizing capacity and vision from the Almighty himself.”
Prof Dr Anwar Hossain, VC of NUB, called upon the young generation to uphold Bangabandu’s legacy and thwart the anti-liberation forces’ designs to prevent the rise of a prosperous Bangladesh.
The Blood Donation Ceremony was held at NUB to mark the occasion of National Mourning Day.
The program was attended by deans of various institutes, departmental heads, faculty members, officials and students. The muezzin of Banani Mosque led the prayer for the peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and sixteen of his family members and all others who were martyred on 15 August 1975.
