NU takes two-day programme marking Nat’l Mourning Day

National University (NU) authorities have chalked out a two-day programme to observe the National Mourning Day in a befitting manner marking the 42nd martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The university authorities finalized the mourning day programme today at a meeting at the conference room adjacent to the vice-chancellor (VC) office in Gazipur, said a NU press release here.
NU VC Professor Harun-or-Rashid presided over the meeting.
The two-day programme includes hoisting national and university flags half-mast and raising black flags on the main campus of the university in Gazipur, city office and all regional centers across the country, wearing black badges and paying homage to Bangabandhu by placing wreath at his portrait at Dhanmondi 32 in the city on August 15.
Besides, a mourning day discussion will be held at the senate hall while a milad mahfil at the university’s central mosque on the campus in Gazipur on August 16, seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of the martyrs of the carnage on August 15 in 1975, the release added.
According to the release, all affiliated colleges and educational institutions will observe the day through similar programmes.
