The Non-Government Teachers Registration Certification Authority (NTRCA) has recommended, the Education Ministry to cancel Monthly Pay Order (MPO) of a total of 184 educational institutions for committing many irregularities including anomalies in teachers appointment process.
The NTRCA authorities said this in a letter sent to the Education Ministry recently.
It also advocated for suspension of the approval of study of these educational institutions.
Chairman of the NTRCA SM Ashfaq Hossain said, “We have got many allegations against some institutions. In our primary investigation we have found that the institutions were involved with many irregularities.”
“Some institutions took money from the newly appointed teachers. Some also were reluctant to take the new teachers without money. This was totally unethical and violation of the NRTCA and Education Ministry’s law,” he said.
Sources said that the educational institutions asked the new teachers to pay Tk five lakh to 10 lakh each in the name of development work. Some of the teachers were asked to pay to the Chief and President of the institutions if they were interested to join.
The officials of the NTRCA sources said, a good number of educational institutions advertised for teachers, but there was no vacancy. The NTRCA appointed teachers for these institutions. But when they knew that the institutions must pay the teachers who were appointed without pattern, they rejected to receive them. On December 18 last year, NTRCA issued an advertisement for the appointment of 39,535 teachers in non-government schools, colleges, madrasas and technical educational institutions across the country.
The sources said around 30 lakh candidates applied online for the vacant posts from December 19, 2018 till January 2. The applicants included the successful candidates from the first to the 14th NTRCA.
The successful candidates have been asked to join their respective institutions within 30 days from January 24 this year.
The NTRCA authorities had selected the necessary teachers through Non-Government Teachers Registration examination and recommended them for appointment, but as many as 35,000 teachers out of 39,535 had joined.
It is learnt that as per the NTRCA law, if any institution obstructs the recommendations of the NTRCA, punishment will be awarded to them. If the complaint is received then the Education Board will be informed from NTRCA to dissolve the Management Committee and many other actions. The NTRCA can also recommend the Education Ministry to take stern action.
