North South University (NSU) organized virtual orientation for newly enrolled students of Spring Semester 2022on Monday, 24 January, 2022.
At the beginning of higher education in the university level, the new students take part in the introductory program in a virtual way. This time more than seventeen thousand students have got the opportunity to get admission in the graduate (honors) courses in 16 departments of the four schools of the university and around sixty-nine students have been awarded merit-based scholarship based on their previous outstanding results and admission test results. The Virtual Orientation Program was broadcasted live on North South University’s Official Facebook page.
Azim Uddin Ahmed, Chairman, Board of Trustees, North South University was present asthe Chief Guest. NSU alumni Dr Fariah Mahzabeen, PhD, Assistant Prof of Technology, Aviation and Technology Department, College of Engineering, San Jose State University, US was present as the Guest Speaker. Ms. Yasmin Kamal, Member, Board of Trustees, NSU was present as the Guest of Honor. Prof Atiqul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of North South University chaired the event. The program was moderated by Jamil Ahmed, TV Presenter and Director – Public Relations Office, NSU.
Speaking as the Chief Guest, Azim Uddin Ahmed said, “The objective of NSU is to develop excellence in education, which is not possible without a safe and secure learning environment. To achieve this mission, NSU authorities are committed to create a habit of discipline among students. North South University has always believed in the spirit of the Liberation War, in its continuation, so far about 1400 children of freedom fighters get the opportunity to study at NSU without any tuition fees.” He thanked the parents for put their confidence on NSU and welcomed the new students.
Speaking as the Guest Speaker, Dr Fariah Mahzabeen said, “Many of you might be facing dilemmas about which university to attend, if you have made the right choice, I want to assure you and your parents that, you are at one of the best educational institutes our country has to offer.
Ask yourself what you are passionate about and try to dream big, set big goals for yourself, it may be coding, genetics, entrepreneurship, environment or photography whatever you are interested about, NSU has all those avenues for you to explore through enhancing academic programs, as well as very well-organized students’ clubs.
NSU has great resources to help you. It is also a great place to make greatest friendship, collaboration and networking. NSU’s faculties and staffs are the most supportive if you can approach in the right way. NSU’s education will not only equip you with technical skill, but it will also teach you very important life skill like, how to collaborate and how to network. Ismail Hossain, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. ABM Rashedul Hassan,Treasurer, Dr Ahmed Tazmeen, Registrar, Prof Dr Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Dean, School of Business and Economics, Prof Dr Abdur Rob Khan, Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof Dr Javed Bari, Dean, School of Engineering and Physical Sciences, Prof Dr Hasan Mahmud Reza, Dean, School of Health and Life Sciences, Directors of various departments, Department Heads, senior officials and teachers were present at the program. The virtual orientation program was also attended by a large number of parents and students through live broadcasts on North South University’s official Facebook page.
