North South University (NSU) in association with North South University Model United Nations Club organized a rally marking the “United Nations Day 2019” on Thursday at its own campus, Bashundhara in the capital.
Freedom Fighter Lion Benajir Ahmed, Chairman, Board of Trustees, NSU was present as chief guest in the rally. Prof Dr Ismail Hossain, Vice-Chancellor (in-charge) of NSU presided over the program.
Since 1948, United Nations Day has been celebrated with great allegiance on October 24. United Nations Day marks the anniversary of the entrance of the UN Charter. On this very day, all the member nations celebrate the purpose and existence of the United Nations. Establishing diplomacy and peacekeeping, United Nations reminds the world of the reasons for its existence.
North South University Model United Nations Club, being founded in 2013, has been dedicated to enlightening the student community about the significance of United Nations.
Benajir Ahmed, NSU Trustees Chairman appreciated the contribution of the United Nations to the establishment of world peace.
In observance of the United Nations Day, NSU Model UN Club honors the organization that has come to force 74 years ago to symbolize and truly represent the magnitude of human rights, social progress, and international peace in co-existence. NSU Model UN club is organizing “UN Day Celebration 2019” at NSU. This event will consist of a celebration rally at NSU Plaza Area. It will also consist of a day-long Information Booth at the Plaza Area to enlighten our students further about the United Nations.
Among others, Deans of different schools, Directors of various departments, Department Heads, senior officials, Faculties, Guardians were also present during the seminar.
