Parliamentary Standing Committee on Shipping Affairs Ministry asked the National River Protection Commission (NRPC) to perform the duty co-operating the other ministries.
The suggestion was made on Wednesday at its 9th meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban with committee chairman Major (Retd) Rafikul Islam in the chair.
Committee members shipping minister Shajahan Khan, Talukder Abdul Khalek, M Habibor Rahman, Ranjit Kumer Rai and M Anwarul Azim attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed different issues, especially the details of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), National River Protection Commission and Bangladesh Shipping Corporation.
The meeting suggested the concerned authority to take proper steps to solve the problems of six ships, those have been procured with the financial assistance of China.
Other senior officers of the ministry were present.
