Police accused a young man in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna district for violating a teenage girl in Rajshahi-bound ‘Silk City’ train on Thursday.
The arrestee is Maminul, 26, from of Sadar upazila of Chapainawabganj district.
Syed Iqbal, officer-in-charge of Rajshahi Railway Police, said when the 14-year girl, hailing from Sirajganj district, went to the toilet of the train Maminul appeared there and violated the girl in the toilet.
Hearing screams of the victim, passengers of the train rushed to the spot and caught Maminul. They gave him a good beating.
Later, he was handed over to Railway Police Station in Ishwardi upazila.
The victim along with her aunt was going to Damurkuda in Paba upazila of Rajshahi district to visit her aunt’s house.
