Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) President Mujahidul Islam Selim and senior leader of Bangladesh Workers’ Party Fazle Hossain Badsha have been threatened with death on Saturday.
Selim was threatened through an email and Badsha by a short message service (SMS) over his cell phone.
“One Nizam Uddin, Nayabe-e-Ameer of Mission Jihadists issued the death threat to me from an email address,” Selim told The New Nation on Saturday night.
“I got an email message around 12:30am last (Friday) night and a mobile number 01747233070 was also given in the message,” he added.
The email address was [email protected].
Expressing strong condemnation over the incident, CPB in a press statement demanded immediate arrest of the miscreants.
CPB, in the statement, also called upon the law enforcement agencies to provide adequate security measures for the party president.
Meanwhile, Fazle Hossain Badsha along with his followers received death threat allegedly over his mobile phone on Saturday afternoon. The death threat was issued over his phone through Short Message Service (SMS) that read “Badsha gang be prepared’ today afternoon.
Badsha is also a Member of the parliament (MP) from Rajshahi constituency-2. Rakin Absar Arnab, worker of Chhatra Moitri, filed a general diary (GD) with Rajpara police station regarding the matter.
The SMS was served from a mobile number 01723 809071 at around 1.31pm today (Saturday), Arnab said.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Rajpara police station Mahmudur Raman confirmed the matter saying we have taken the matter seriously. Earlier, eight eminent personalities including State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam, Rajshahi former mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton received death threats on Monday.
The others recipients were Rajshahi University Vice Chancellor Dr Mizanuddin, Prose writer Azizul Haque, Rajshahi Range DIG Iqbal Bahar, Rajshahi Education Board chairman Prof. Dr Abul Hayat, Rajshahi city Awami League General Secretary Dablu Sarkar and the daily Sunshin editor Yunus Ali.
