Joynal Abedin Khan :The incidents of rape, particularly minor girls shot up alarmingly in the recent times. Now they are targeted by rapists creating horror in the country.At least four kids were reportedly raped in separate city areas in the span of 10 hours on Tuesday who were aged between three to 10, police and right activist sources said. They also claimed that most of the rape incidents remained unregistered and real figure never published in the media.According to data of Bangladesh Mohila Parisad, at least 575 females were raped from January to August this year.A total of 192 children were tortured to dead in last seven months and 350 in 2014 while 968 were reportedly killed in last three and half years.A study reportedly by an English Daily said that 82 percent of the rape victims are under the age of 20 and 52 percent of the victims were schoolgirls.In Demra, a three-and-a-half-year girl was raped allegedly by her neighbour on Tuesday afternoon. The neighbour named Roni, 25, allegedly violated the girl after taking her in his house in the name of watching Television, said Abul Kalam, a Sub-Inspector of Demra Police Station.As she cried for help, locals rushed to the spot and rescued the girl. However, Roni managed to flee the scene, said the police official, who brought the victim to One-Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.In Khilgaon, another four-year girl was allegedly raped by her father’s cousin in absence of her parents from the house in the afternoon, said Bilkis Begum, a coordinator of the OCC.In Badda, a six-year-old girl was raped in a house by a young man in the city’s North Badda on Tuesday morning.The victim was admitted to the One-Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), said Abdul Jalil, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Badda Police Station.Police have already arrested the rapist from a house in the area, the police official said. The arrested man has been identified as Harunur Rashid, 19, neighbour of the victim, he said.In Jatrabari, a ten-year girl was raped allegedly by a youngman in a house at Matuail of Jatrabari in the capital on Tuesday evening. The victim was admitted to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), said Sentu Das, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) at the hospital Police Outpost. In Hazaribagh, a couple complained to the police on Sunday that their seven-year-old daughter was raped, said Hazaribagh Police OC Mainul Islam.Police immediately raided Rayerbazar and arrested one ‘Khokon’, said the police officer.In Mirpur, a nine-year-old girl was raped allegedly by her neighbour, Rasel, 30, at Pirerbagh on Saturday, said Sub-Inspector Matiur Rahman of Mirpur Police Station. In Mogbazar, a minor girl has been raped after she came to Dhaka from Mymensingh ‘with a friend’. The girl, about 12 years, was rescued from a slum near Tejgaon Railway tracks on Agust 21, said Tejgaon Police Station’s OC Md Majharul Islam.In Nilphamari, a schoolgirl was raped in Beruband area under Jaldhaka upazila in July. Selim, 21, son of Azizul Islam of the area raped the Class V student girl while she was alone in the house. On the other hand, a minor girl was violated in Sreenagar upazila in Munshiganj district. Joy, 19, raped the girl while the victim was sleeping in her room. In Kurigram, a seven-year-old girl has been raped allegedly by a retired army man at Bhuriar Kutir village in Phulbari upazila on July 30, said Phulbari Police Station officer-in-charge Md Badruddoza.In Barguna, miscreants have raped a 12-year-old girl after confining her mother at her house in Barguna Sadar Upazila in May. In Pirojpur, a seven-year old girl and student of class two was violated at Matharia upazila of the district.In Jessore, a young man was handed over to police after he was allegedly caught red handed by local people while raping a female madrasah student in Keshabpur upazila on June 1, said OC Abdul Wahab. In Chuadanga, a four-year-old girl was hospitalised hours after she was raped allegedly by a neighbour in Alamdanga upazila of Chuadanga on in March.In Mymensing, a four-year-old girl was violated at Kamalpur village under Nandail upazila in June, said the OC Saiful Islam. Bangladesh Mohila Parishad Predident Ayesha Khanom said that the law enforcers should take proper step to stop rape incident. She claimed that the government is indifferent to check the torture on women.
