Insulin manufacturer Novo Nordisk will hold half a marathon on November 13, the eve of World Diabetes Day, to create awareness about physical exercise.
Around 5,000 runners are expected to participate in the 21.1km running event starting at Gulshan Park and finishing on Manik Mia Avenue through Hatirjheel, Bir Uttam Shawkat Sarak, Bir Uttam Ziaur Rahman Sarak and Begum Rokeya Avenue.
Managing Director of Novo Nordisk Pharma A Rajan Kumar made the announcement at a press conference in the city recently.
The marathon will be organised in association with Sports International.
“The marathon will raise awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle in preventing and controlling diabetes,” said Rajan.
Besides locals, runners from the UK, Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia and Malaysia will also participate in the programme.
