Novels catch public interest at Book Fair

Amar Ekushey Book Fair has elapsed 12 days since the opening on February 15. By this time the novel books have already caught public interest.
The Book Fair has gathered 190 new books. Sales representatives say people seem to be more interested to novels, romantic thrillers, historical and political books.
However, Bangla Academy has extended the date till March 17 if covid infection decreases. Besides, Bangla Academy Director Jalal Ahmed said, the duration might be extended.
So far publishing houses have published 1,364 new books of 25 different categories.
Purchasers are preferring novel and history book,” said Hasan Zahidi, owner of ‘Pearl’ publications.
“Novel books are selling well” Yasin, a sales representatives of ‘Maula Brothers’ publishing houses said.
‘Readers purchased books based on their favourite authors. The author who have been popular among people, the book written by them are selling more,” he added.
“I have been attending book fairs every year. Actually, l bought novels sometimes essays are also bought.” Rahatul Islam, a book lover of the fair said.
On Thursday, February 24, the twelve consecutive day of the fair, a discussion was held titled “Literature and culture of Amar Ekushey” on 4.00 pm.
