Nilphamari police have arrested notorious thief Shariful Islam Picchi and his accomplice notorious Mohammad Shahid in a raid in Nilphamari.
On Sunday night, August 31, they were arrested in a raid led by Sadar Police Inspector Mahmud UnNabi near the Babrijhar-bound road from the Sadar textile junction. The thief Shariful Islam and Shahid belong to the same area.
According to police sources, the arrested Shariful Islam alias Pichchi
has been directly involved in the theft of private cars, motorcycles, shops and houses in various nearby districts including Nilphamari district for a long time. Shariful Islam alias Pichchi used to steal in one district and hide in another district. The search for the thief was going on for a long time.
Police sources further said that the accused Shariful Islam was a fugitive accused in four arrest warrants in Pichchi police station. It is initially known that eight theft cases against the said accused are pending in the court.
Sadar Police Inspector (Investigation) Mahmud UnNabi said, “We formed a special team to catch the thief Shariful Islam.” After a long operation, we were able to arrest him yesterday. During the arrest, 3 stolen laptops, 1 LED television, 1 irrigation pump, 1 fan and other stolen goods were recovered from them.
Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge KM Ajmiruzzaman said, “As per the direction of SP Sir, we formed a smart team led by Inspector of Police (Investigation) Mahmud Un Nabi to nab Shariful Islam Pichchi and his associates and were able to arrest them.” And the public is now relieved that Pichchi has been arrested.
