Noted music composer Ali Hossain passes away

Noted music composer and director Ali Hossain, creator of songs like Ashru diye lekha ei gaan, and Holud bato mendi bato, breathed his last at a hospital in the United States of America on Tuesday at 4:15pm (local time). Ali Hossain was born in his maternal
grandfather’s house in Cumilla on March 23 in 1940. Due to his father’s service, he had to study in Pakistan’s Karachi. He got primary training in music from his father. In 1964, he came to Bangladesh. In 1966,
he first worked as music composer in Mostafiz’s movie Dak Babu. He gave music direction in 100 films. Ali Hossain created numerous timeless songs. His composed notable songs are: Chhaturi jane na mor bodhua, Arey o praner raja tumi je amar, Ei akash ke sakkhi rekhe ei batas ke sakkhi rekhe, O duti noyone swopone choyone nijere je bhule jai tulona khunje na pai, Kehoi kore bechakena and Ke tumi ele go amar ei jibone, among many others.
Besides composing for Bangla film industry, Ali Hossain also composed Urdu songs for movies Chhote Saheb, Daag, Anari, Coolie and many others throughout his career. He was honored at the 12th Channel i Music Awards (2017) for his contribution to Bangladeshi music. His only son Asif Hossain is now living in USA.
