Noted journalist Muniruzzaman laid to rest

Acting Editor of the daily Sangbad and noted columnist Khandaker Muniruzzaman was laid to
rest at Mirpur Intellectuals graveyard in the city on Tuesday. He was buried at the graveyard around 5 pm after the namaz-e-janaza on the graveyard premises.
Muniruzzaman died while undergoing treatment for coronavirus at Mugda Medical College Hospital on Tuesday morning at the age of 72.
Earlier, on October 31, he was admitted to the hospital after contacting corona.
Muniruzzaman started his debut as a journalist in the CPB’s mouthpiece weekly Ekta in 1970. He had been working as acting editor of the Daily Sangbad for a decade.
Earlier, he was in charge of the editorial department of the Bengali daily.
Muniruzzaman was a member of different professional organisations including the Jatiya Press Club.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of the Daily Sangbad acting editor.
The Prime Minister prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family.
