A nor’wester coupled with rain swept the capital on Sunday evening, inundating many areas and uprooting a number of trees. The storm with a speed of 83 kms per hour started lashing many parts of the city around 6:05pm, said meteorologist at Bangladesh Metrological
Department Muhammad Arif Hossain. “It lasted for around 15 minutes.” He also said they recorded 5 mm of rainfall in the capital in three hours from 6pm to 9pm.
The duty officer at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station said the nor’wester uprooted 7-8 trees in different areas, including Manik Mia Avenue and in front of NEC Bhaban, under the police station.
