A violent storm lashed away over Kaliganj upazila in Jhenidah on Wednesday.
During the storm, about 120 houses have been washed away in ten villages on Wednesday night.
Besides, 20 villagers including children received injuries while 2 hactores of crops have been damaged.
Of the injured, a house wife Maria Khatun, wife of Shafikul Islam of Ramchandrapur village is stated to be critical. She has taken admission at Kaliganj local health complex. The rest have taken first aid.
The affected villages are Kharikadanga, Kamalhat, Ghoshpara, Kola, Ramchandrapur, Talian, Rakra Bittipara, Khalkula, Binotpur and Daspara.
While visiting the areas locals told that at around 11-00 pm on Wednesday night a strong storm started to blow. In the twinkle of an eye of ten minute storm hundreds of houses, thousands of trees and lots of crop plots were washed away. At the time 20 villagers were injured.
Sukur Ali a farmer of Kharikadanga village said, he has never seen such a violent storm in his life. His two bighas of vegetables had completely washed away.
