Five people suffered injuries and over 100 houses were damaged as a nor’wester lashed on Kalasura and Dariram Shanker villages in Sadar upazila on Sunday.
Dhania Union Parishad chairman Emdad Hossain Kabir said the storm suddenly started in the two villages of the upazila in the afternoon, damaging over 100 houses, including a Brac school and a madrasah.
Huge trees in the areas were uprooted and the electricity connection was disrupted due to the storm, he said. Village doctor Mohiuddin said five people were injured when their houses collapsed during the storm. Talking to reporters, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mujahidul Islam said they will make a list of the affected people for rehabilitation.
