At least 200 houses of 10 villages were damaged as a nor’wester lashed the villages in Atpara upazila on Saturday afternoon.
Teligati union parishad chairman Jahangir Hossain said the storm hit Gandhrabapur, Teligati, Bijoypur, Barotali, Shasonkandi, Kamargati, Purba Hatior, Paschim Hatior, Ikratia village and Teligati bazaar of Teligati union in the afternoon and damaged nearly 200 houses, including two hostels of Teligati Degree College and 20 shops at Teligati Bazar.
Large trees were uprooted and the electricity line disrupted following the storm.
Several people suffered injuries as branches of trees fell on them. Of the injured, few were taken to the upazila health complex and the rest were given first aid, he added.
