The first private university and the number one ranked private university of Bangladesh, North South University (NSU) has organized a discussion session and cultural program on ‘Independence and National Day 2022’ today. The program was live broadcasted on Official Facebook Page of NSU.
The purpose of this event is to honor the martyrs and freedom fighters to enlighten the youth on the spirit of the liberation war. To pay homage to the martyrs of the War of Independence, NSU laid a wreath at the National Memorial on the morning of March 26. NSU also undertook a wide range of programs including campus lighting and hoisting of national flags.
Former Minister, Freedom Fighter and MP, KaziFeroz Rashid was present as the Chief Guest.Mr. Azim Uddin Ahmed, Honorable Chairman, Board of Trustees, NSU and Freedom Fighter Lion Benajir Ahmed, Member, Board of Trustees, NSUwere present as Special Guests.The session was chaired by Professor Atiqul Islam, Vice-Chancellor, NSUand moderated by Mr. Jamil Ahmed, Director, Public Relations Office, NSU.Prof. Dr. M. Ismail Hossain, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, NSU delivered the welcome speech.
Speaking as the Chief Guest, Former Minister, Freedom Fighter and MP, KaziFeroz Rashidsaid, “We have made every effort to move from a middle-income country to a more developed one. We need to know where our roots came from, how this country became independent and if we want to know about this country, we need to know about Bangabandhu. Addressing to the new generation, he said, “We have given you an independent country and now you are enjoying its benefits.” You have to play a role in building the country by holding the ideals of Bangabandhu in your heart.
Azim Uddin Ahmed, Honorable Chairman, Board of Trustees, NSU said, “The importance of Independence Day in our national life is immense. We achieved liberation through long battle and struggle under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the nation and the greatest Bengali of all time. Our freedom came through the strong leadership of this great leader. Today, under the strong leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the worthy daughter of Bangabandhu, we have established our country as a developing and dignified nation to the World. Today, Bangladesh is moving forward in tandem with the world. We have seen significant growth in our per capita income, infrastructural development, education, health sectors, investment in the private sector and domestic production.”
Honorable Member, Board of Trustees, NSU, Freedom Fighter Lion Benajir Ahmed said, “We have to show to the new generation how we made this country independent so that they can play a role in building the country with the spirit of Bangabandhu in their mind. Bangabandhu gave all the directions on how to run our country in his historical speech on March 7.”
Professor Atiqul Islam, Vice-Chancellor, NSUsaid, “Under the leadership of Bangabandhu, we have gained independence of this country and we are enjoying its benefits, now our country has become a role model for other countries. That is why we have to be more careful so that our new generation can know the true history of independence.”
Among others, Prof. ABM Rashedul Hassan, Treasurer, NSU, Prof. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Dean, School of Business & Economics, NSU, Prof. Dr. Javed Bari, Dean, School of Engineering & Physical Sciences, NSU, Prof. Dr. Hasan Mahmud Reza, Dean, School of Health & Life Sciences, NSU, Prof. Dr. Abdur Rob Khan, Dean, School of Humanities & Social Sciences, NSU, Prof. Dr. GourGobinda Goswami, Director, Office of Student Affairs, NSU, Faculties, Officials and Students were also present in the program. After the discussion session, North South University Shangskritik Shangathan (NSUSS) organized a cultural program.
