Chittagong Bureau :
Chittagong city mayor AJM Nasir Uddin on Thursday warned that no occupants of illegal structures on drains and canals in the city would be spared for the public interest.
He said illegal structures must be removed or otherwise legal actions would be taken against the occupants as a section of people often dump wastage and fill up drains and canals willingly or unwillingly, resulting in blockade of the drainage system.
The mayor came up with the warning while exchanging views with the locals after inspecting soil and wastage removal programme at city’s Moheshkhal.
The mayor also urged the city dwellers to dump wastages and kitchen stuffs within given timetable in fixed dustbins supplied by the corporation. Bilkis Enterprise is carrying out the TK 15 lakh excavation works from Faillyatoli to Boro Pool area on the Moheshkhal.
Local ward councillor Abul Hashem, Dr Ariful Amin, Ershadul Amin, CCC superintending engineer Rafiqul Islam, Assistant Engineer Asim Kumar Barua and eminent citizens of the area were present on the occasion.
